Every show has an origin story. Most of them involve someone saying 'you should start a podcast' at exactly the right, or wrong, moment.
Mine started with a feeling I couldn't shake: that the most interesting conversations I was having weren't happening on stage or in meeting rooms. They were happening at the edges, with the people who didn't fit the conventional mold, who'd taken unconventional paths, who'd built remarkable things by ignoring the supposed rules.
The Name
The 'weird' in The Weird Canadian isn't an insult. It's a badge of honor. Canada has a complicated relationship with celebrating its own weirdness. We're polite to a fault, quick to minimize our accomplishments, and culturally wired to fit in rather than stand out.
This show is a deliberate pushback against that. Every guest I've had on this podcast has, in some way, embraced what made them different, and that difference turned out to be the engine of their success.
What We're Building
The Weird Canadian is more than a podcast. It's a community for the people who don't quite fit. The builders, the dreamers, the slightly-too-honest-for-corporate-life crowd who decided to bet on themselves.
If that sounds like you, you're in the right place.
